Kick off toward the gInternational Skills Festival for All, Japan 2007h

-Event for One Year before the International Skills Competition-

 

gThe International Skills Festival for All, Japan 2007h (ISF2007: please see the following reference) is an event in that the 39th WorldSkills Competition and the 7th International Abilympics take place simultaneously in Shizuoka Prefecture in November 2007.  The Japan Organizing Committee for the ISF 2007 (Chairman: Fujio Mitarai) leads its preparation for ISF 2007 at the moment.    

 

On November 14, one year before the Opening Ceremony of ISF2007, a commemorative event (please see the following details) will take place being co-hosted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan Organizing Committee for ISF2007, Shizuoka Prefecture, Shizuoka City and Numazu City.   The messages: attractiveness and importance of the skills and information on the event will be sent nationwide and worldwide for the purpose of increasing momentum toward the ISF2007.

 

Additionally, in order to promote skills, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is planning to hold a series of Symposia on a Skill-Oriented Nation in 5 major cities around Japan from January to February next year after this kick off event.

gInternational Skills Festival for All, Japan 2007h (ISF2007)

 

1. Introduction

The WorldSkills Competition took place in 1950 in Spain then as the Iberian Competition with far-reaching objectives: to motivate youngsters to compete, to make them enthusiastic about vocational training and to compare skills and abilities of people from different countries.  The WorldSkills Competition took place in Tokyo in 1970 and in Osaka in 1985.

The 1st International Abilympics (IA) was held in Tokyo in 1981 to commemorate the United Nations' International Year of Disabled Persons with wide support of both governmental and non-governmental organizations.

These competitions were held in different times and in different places since the 1st competition however for the first time in history, the WorldSkills Competition and the International Abilympics will take place together in Shizuoka in 2007.

The International Skills Festival for All, Japan 2007 (ISF2007)

The 39th WorldSkills Competition, 7th International Abilympics and various other non-competition events will take place under the name of ISF2007.
